Meet Allanah...........seems to be cage aggression

she is our homicidal himi. She has been a bit of a nipper but her bites are getting worse. I lived with mally and her biting nothing worked towards changing her evil ways. This one is quite vicious in her bites.

Note my finger under her jaw. I have mastered the picking up a bitey girl so she has only bit me one time. My daughter has no ability to learn. I have told her over and over that we are back to getting a visual on Allanah before any hands go in that cage. Allanah nailed her 3 times in one biting incident and held on for 10 seconds.

I know nothing I did worked with mally. I am really unsure what to do for bitey girls because they are not easily fixed as boys are, just removed the testicles. She is ok with the other rats, she does well with them, not fighting or anything like that but she packs one hell of a bite.

Any tips on stopping this little cute nutjob? LOL

Kait was only grabbing cash when she was bitten by her. So there was not direct contact with little stinker.

Females are really tough to rehabilitate. No quick fix. How old is she? She's so pretty!!

We got her from Eagle in june. I would say around 9 months or so? Total guess. She was spayed in june or july. I know it is hard, we can live with her, she is happy other wise but I have to at least attempt to help her. I am just better with boys than girls.

I would try a lot of hand socializing and by that I mean, pick up, put down, pick up, hold a while, give a treat and put back down, over and over again.

Haha this should be fun. We tried to mark her tail nd I put my finger around her neck so I have control and she tries to get me.......I will try with some treats tomorrow on the couch.

Do you have gloves? Gloves take away the fun (hopefully). For most of my biters I would pick them up with gloves then hold them in my arms without gloves (they were more worried about the being way up high, they never bit).

Can you take a video of her normal interactions with other rats then when a gloved hand comes near?

I will look and see if i have some gloves that will keep her teeth off my fingers. I swoop in in her and grab her with out incident. I will try to get a video on my days off tomorrow or wednesday. She really doesnt seem to be to horrible in the cage. I havent seen a lot of noise or her having major problems with the other rats, she just dont like human hands in her cage it seems. She does bite my feet when I am in the pen with them but never to horrible hard. I dont give her a chance to bite me but I still pick her up, she fights the hold though. It took months for my finger to heal from Fabian, I dont wanna go through that again LOL

I have limited. I am so much better at learning to live with them but Allanah bites so damn hard I really want to try to get her to change a bit. So we will see if i can make the triggers happen and how many battle wounds I get from her little bitey self LOL. I have had some biter boys but they seem easier to stop than girls.

Oddly she was never a biter when with me, shy yes, but not a biter.

She is older now so it usually hits with puberty. I think she is at the right age for it now

I remember my sister had a nasty girl. Bleuet would run after me to try and bite me. She was ok with Nic but anyone else was definitely fair game. But luckily a spay stopped that for her.

We have had a few of those here. They never bit us but would get anyone else that came around them.

I was in the play area with the buggers tonight and I had a little play session with Allanah. She plays well. I didnt let her get my fingers but she comes to her name being called and popcorns back and forth. She seemed happy to play.

In the cage she is a different girl. In the cage she is nervous and stand offish if you grab her. I tried to grab her and she stood up and you could see the guarded side of her coming out. I put the glove in and she was a little paranoid, not anymore than with my hand in there, but I put the glove on her and she did bite it. She didnt attack it but she did try to bite it a bit. but so did about 10 other rats LOL damn big groups.

She was also pinned by a few boys and it was ok. She doesnt lash out or get angry she was quite submissive to Ace who had her pinned. She has never been mean to the other rats, she does well and she sleeps with them all. I never seen her chase or fight. We only have one screamer and it is cash, he is pinned and picked on by a few of the boys but other than that it is a very quiet happy group.

She never really tried to get me in a major way, I am wondering if maybe she dont like kait.... We have some rats that just dont like her LOL.

I will try to do a video tomorrow and see if you can see the difference of me grabbing her in the cage and me getting her in the play area.

I am ok with her staying this way too We lived with a biter girl for almost two years so we can do it again I just dont like how much damage she did to kait's finger rats bites that go deep can get ugly fast. I am ok if they bite me and not her because I can prevent it, getting a teen age kid to stop is a whole other story.

Toby was this way but he was like a dog, you could tell him "toby no" and that boy would learn. Girls are so bad though ....

Might be some hope for her then. Maybe Kait could socialize more with her, with loads of treats.

I have to clean the cage today so I plan on seeing how she is. It is totally terrifying to clean with her around though LOL I still dont trust her. I know how bad the bites are.
