Hi,

My baby girl is on .04 cc of Azithromycin daily. I managed to lose to the dosage syringe that the vet gave me to measure...but it looks the same as the ones I have to give my cat his insulin.

Would measuring it in the 100u insulin syringe be accurate? The syringe says it is 3/10 cc and it looks the same as the syringe I have been using up till now...on that syringe, I was going up to the 4th line from the bottom to measure .04 cc. Is this accurate on the Insulin syringe?

It really looks the same....I just wanted to double check.
Thanks,

Laura

Hey guys,

Thanks for the help! I ended up calling the pharmacy (good idea!! Thanks!!!) and my boyfriend is picking up a syringe on his way home! :)

Thanks so much!!

insulin syringes come with different measurements ... I would ask the vet since that is who gave you the syringe.
Or you can tell us the weight of your rat and the med strength and we can give you an amount.
Azithro is 5 to 15 ml/Ib, but I always give 10 mg/Ib

The vet had said .04 cc once a day for her and gave me a syringe to measure it...which to me, looked exactly like the insulin syringe I use on my cat, except no needle.

I can't call the vet right now, cause it's after 9 pm and they already closed.

The pharmacist said he would give me a syringe that would work. Should I be concerned?

Nope! A 1 cc syringe is a 1 cc syringe is a 1 cc syringe. It will have the measurements on it like the missing one. I get syringes all the time from my pharmacy because for a long time they were making up the meds for my rats. ( 1 cubic centimeter = 1 millilitre )
