I thought I'll take the chance to note down the things I've done, the thoughts I've gone through as I find mites really really tricky to determine especially when you have two naughty boys in your care. This is NOT meant to be a guide, but a rather a reference as to what I've done, how much it costs for me before I finally decided to declare war on these microscopic little creatures. I would like to thank everyone at the rat shack as well as some special people: [glow=red:v7l6sx4j]TheRatQueen, Minifrog, Cinderwolf, VNB[/glow:v7l6sx4j] for all their patience they have given me in chat as I rant over the scabs almost daily :gaah: anic:
Having suspected mites, I took the two boys to a vet approximately on the 3rd of October but skin scrapes and tape test came back negative Being relieved at that point in time, I didn't think too much about it.. Until I saw these:
At this point all I felt was a combination of anic: and  . Not exactly helpful.
After texting these photos to TheRatQueen, her highness sensed a case of mites and that a dose of Revolution might be the way to end my woes.
After chatting with VNB on chat, she suggested I freeze their beddings and clean hammocks to kill off the mites. And so it began. I managed to get Revolution as a birthday present :joy: . It would have otherwise cost me about 35 USD. :thud:
And so it was, huge ziploc bags..
Stuffed with all ratty stuff..
Out with the food and in with the rat stuff.
Its time like these where I wish I had more space for a larger freezer. (I threw out a bag of frozen vegetables and removed all 3 ice trays for these. Sigh)
I began with washing the carrier for use tomorrow. Its now in the kitchen waiting to be dried. Hopefully things go on well tomorrow, I'm thinking of the steam cleaner and soaking the cage with some white vinegar. Do let me know if there's anything else I can do about this!
P.S Might anyone have an idea on how much of my Revolution to use for a 640 gram rat and 770 gram rat respectively? I thank you in advance.
(To be continued tomorrow)
