(I'm sorry if this isn't where I was supposed to post this)

Hello, I got 3 baby rats a few weeks ago, from what I was told by the breeder, they were born on or around May 9th. There's two that are smaller, and one that is obviously bigger.
My question is, are the two smaller ones male or female? The breeder was certain they were male, as I wanted 3 boys.
But as time is going by, the larger one has his man parts, the smaller two do not. I am worried about waiting longer to see if they get them soon, because they're all in the same cage, and I'm afraid of pregnancy, as I know I can't find homes for a litter of rats.

So I'll post pictures here, the best ones I could get, sorry they're a little blurry, and hope you guys can help me out, thanks!

I see what you mean -- no sign of goolies. I will let the experts give their opinions. You should be able to tell by the distance between urethra & anus, but I have trouble telling unless I get reminded by a clear example of each. If they are boys, they should have very obvious testicles by now. It is always possible to have a male with undescended testicles, but I don't think it's common.

If either of them are girls, they are now more than seven weeks old, so you are right that they are at risk.

See if you can find lilspaz68's great post with photos of boys & girls at an early age. She explains the differences really well.

Ah, okay. I found the post. I'm thinking they're most likely female, and I need to separate them as soon as possible. Thanks for your opinions. :]

(Opinions are still welcome, by the way!)

Yep, they look like little girls. I can't get over how some people can call themselves breeders and not know the basics. Another way to tell, only girls have nipples.

Okay, I was going to make a whole new post, but I figured I'd just add to this one. I took the females out to play today, and one of them, Charlie, is squeaking when I pet her and when I pick her up. I've only had one pregnant rat before, and that was my first rat, and she was pregnant when I brought her home from the pet shop when I was 12, so I don't remember the signs of rat pregnancy. Could the squeaking when touched be a sign? Maybe I'm just paranoid. :/
