Sorry I have been posting so much lately, anyways. So I have an appointment with a rescue this week to meet 2 girl ratties that I could potentially adopt. How do I make a good impression on them? I have never done this before. Should I bring pics of the cage or what?

I'd say do what feels right to you. If you aren't being yourself they will sense something is off. If you want to show pictures of the cage etc. sure why not? They are just trying to see if you'd make a good home. If you think you will then you shouldn't be nervous. If you don't think you'd make a good home obviously rats are not for you.

They might have questions, usually about what kind of food and bedding and whether your rats have a vet. Photos of the cage help, because it gives a lot of info. Some people ask for references or want to deliver the pet to your place to see if all is as it seems. Often they will ask if you have a vet fund, or what you would do if ever you had to rehome the rat, or what you would do if it had some difficult behavior like biting. Many rescues have an application form with those questions, and it's good to think about how you would handle them.

Sadly, some people will just hand you the rat at the front door -- no questions asked.

Here's one thing that you've got to remember, and it'll hopefully ease your jitters. The application process (if there is one) isn't there to weed you out as an adopter. Any decent rescue just wants reassurance that any rattie they adopt out will be well loved and cared for.

Good luck with your appointment!

I think this is false, I have low self esteem at times so sometimes I'm convinced that I'm the worst rat owner ever! But I know logically I'm not, however it can be hard not to let emotions get the best of you ;)
