I adopted the girls last November, and I was told that they were two years old (and later told one year) ... but I really had no idea. They were so sickly when I got them -- thin fur, skinny, mites, bad lungs -- that they were not candidates for spaying, otherwise I'd have had them done right away.
Time passed. Revolution, Baytril/Doxy, TLC, and decent food has worked wonders. They look great, and I think they must have been only a year old when I got them. I have been feeling badly that I didn't get them spayed yet. Today I took them for a checkup, which I am doing bit by bit for all of my rats to make sure I am not missing anything.
Good thing, too, because I am notoriously unobservant :emb: about lumps. Maddy has a small lump that is almost certainly a mammary tumour, so I have booked her for a lump removal and both girls for a spay. I recall that mamarat has done this for females as old as two, so this feels safe.
