Last night I had my babies out on a tabletop, and for the first time was observing them from eye level. Hooded baby's profile caught my attention since it looked a little odd, then alarm bells went off. She's got a pea sized lump on her throat. Its pretty solid feeling, but doesn't seem to be anchored to anything. I tried looking for a scab, but she was being for to wriggly for a more thorough examination.
I'm really hoping that its just an abscess, and that it'll go away with a combo of antibiotics and warm compresses. I'm planning on treating it as such over the next week and see if there's any difference in the lump's size. She's only eight weeks old. Aside from what I think was the "new home" snuffles, she seems perfectly healthy otherwise - she's eating like a champ, has tons of energy, and the lump isn't restricting her breathing.
In case the abscess treatment doesn't work, is there a possibility that the lump could be something else entirely? I know that tumors are possible there thanks to Ratty Momma's dear Ryder ...
