Lots of licking!?

My two rats, Marilyn and BUttercup, are very avid lickers, if I'm holding or petting them they'll lick my hands, if they're near my face they'll lick my face! All of my rats before Marilyn and Buttercup are avid lickers as well.. . What does this constant licking behavior mean? Are my fingers tasty? Salty? Are they a sign of them showing affection?:love1: What's the cause of them licking me so much? They eat a well balanced diet of seeds, breads, fruits and sometimes eggs.:drink1:

My boy is a licker. As soon as I start petting him he starts trying to lick my hand.... Also he also has started licking an exposed part of the pan in their cage... He's just odd and a little spazzy but he's a lover boy. [emoji4]
