Ok, so I have a male rat living by himself. I already have 2 girls who are 14 and 15 months old. I rescued my new boy about a month ago now as he was by himself and was going to be snake food I think. He hadn't been socialised and wouldbt come near people, was scared of everything. Now, he's a totally different rat. He's usually climbing the cage waiting for me 1st thing in a morning and when I get in from work. He loves coming out of his cage and running around me, my living room and my sofa and often grooms me and sleeps on me...when he's not acting like there's a rocket on his back!

He does live alone though. Id love another rat for him but worry that that wouodnt get on and I would then have nowhere to keep the new rat as I dont have a spare cage big enough. My boy, Rfor, comes out.of his cage most evening.when I get home from work and he has things in his cage to play with...what do I do? I can't imagine my girls on their own but I got them together they're sisters and so are used to company. Rfor has been alone.since he was 4 or 5 weeks old.

Help,

Great that you rescued him and that Rfor is doing so much better
If he is in good health, you might want to look into getting him neutered by an experienced rat vet.
Three to four weeks after being neutered, you would be able to start gradually introducing him to the girls.

Or you could gradually intro him in with 2 boys about 10 weeks old.
(There are established, gradual intro steps to ensure no one gets hurt.)

Rats really do need to live with at least one other rat.

My girls are quite set in their ways, like their cage a certain way, aren't that social, dobt like to be bothered, just run around the dining room floor and go back to bed. I think putting a baby in there with them would annoy them. they don't even like it when I put new toys in, they chuck then out.and fight with new blankets. I'm not.sure they'd like Rfor!
