Lice or Mices Or What?

I am sorry for this topic.I'm sure I can infos elsewhere but I wanna make sure and I'm anxious so I wanna get infos fast. I searched a bit but didin't found anything.

Today, I checked my old Zumi who has major respiratory problems. She has red dots everywhere on her skin. And there's white things in her fur everywhere that looks like our dandruff.

Was is that exactly and what do I do to get rid of it? I know my 4 other females have a couple red dots too but nowhere near Zumi's condition.

ummm, it sounds like you need some revolution hun... and fast!
you're describing mites and lice by the sounds of it...

I agree, mites. One dose of Revolution on all your rats should clear her up. It could also be the cause of the myco flare up. I'd bring her in for her URI and ask the vet to treat her for the bugs too.

That means all my 5 ratties are infected. Jeez... I don't have much money. I'm a student... Is Revolution expensive? And I think I'll put Zumi to sleep even if it breaks my heart. She's having so much trouble with her myco for months now. I spent over 300$ on that and it never came any better, it just make her stable. She's happy but she's so sick, skeletal even if she eats alot and now she has flees and lices. :sad3:

Maybe it's my cat who caused it. She sleeps often in the same room as them and she goes outside and kills stuff.

Enyways, how much is Revolution for 5 rats normally...?

Edit : Or maybe put Zumi in a cage alone would be better? I ordered myself a critter nation from allpetfurniture.com (well, 'm going to monday) and that's why i'm pretty broke for vet too. I need a new cage and I didint expect this whole lice thing. I can't afford to spend anymore money but I can't let this invasion go on. Enyways, back to the point. Should I put Zumi to sleep or put her in a cage alone? I really don't know what to do with her anymore. She's my best rat and my favorite but she's so sick. I'm plain confused plus kinda money broke.

Maybe instead of using the ALL the money for a CN, look for a cage that isn't so expensive so you can treat the mites, and URI?

Try buying a second hand FN ... a lot less expensive then a critter nation.

As for revolution, 1 tube will treat all of them, but if you are unable to figure out the dosage or don't know their weights, your vet will likely want to apply it.

If you use bedding but don't freeze it, that is likely where the bugs came from.
As for mites they can get it from the house heating sysyem, almost anywhere but you can't seem them, just the symptoms they cause.
They will likely need to be treated twice with revolution for lice, once now, and once again in a month.
And everything needs to be washed. Need to get rid of all the lice eggs, etc.

Alrighty thanks all. I'm using Natural Critter Care bedding. And no I don't freeze it since our freezer is always full. And I'll check on Kijiji Moncton for a second-hand FN or CN. That way I can check with the vet for revolution. By the time I can go to the vet, maybe I'll get the new cage and this one is gonna be clean so I'll just get rid of my other one and clean the little toys and water bottle (stuff i'll switch to the other cage).

Sucks I'm not at Dieppe. I can only go at the vet on saturdays. Stupid college. anic: But if they can't give me an appointment next saturday, I'll have to miss some school for it and convince my mom to drive me there. :wallbang:
