Julia had been recovering pretty well. I took her to see the vet last week, and he was pleased to see that her eye was back to normal size (though did not appear to have much vision left) and that the lump was smaller and softer.

This morning her balance seemed a little worse that usual. By suppertime her eye was bulging and the swelling on her face was big again. She is on Clavamox, Baytril and Metacam. I gave her extra Metacam.

Any advice? I was thinking of giving some Chlorpalm and extra Metacam later this evening, then dropping her off at the vet in the morning if she is not better.

I am so afraid that this could be the end for her.

Oh no... not again. That's not a good sign if the infection grows while on meds. You could try the Chlorpalm and metacam.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am really worried now. Her face is even more swollen than it was a couple of hours ago, and the swollen eye is red-rimmed like it was when I first took her in 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Her appetite is fine. She gobbled down the meds, and she grabbed kamut puffs and defended them against a couple of others who tried to steal them. I hope that means that she is at least not in pain.

ETA: Julia is in a Catch-22. If she has a tumour along with the abscess (probable), then treating the tumour with Pred will make the abscess worse. She had done well with Chlorpalm and Pred in the past (when we thought that she had an incurable inner ear infection), but we switched her to Metacam and abs when the facial swelling started.
