Ivermectin dosage?

I have talked to my vet in the past...she is not very knowledgable about rats... :?
Anyway we had discussed treatment for mites/lice...she was not sure how to dose with Ivermectin in a animal so small...
We didn't treat at that time because there was no need... I was just curious what she would use Revolution or Ivermectin, said said either or but for mites thought Ivermectin was better choice...

Since my boys have had their neuter (friday) they seem itchy...more so than usual...skin is not red or raw yet...and might be nothing...but I want to be ready if this doesn't settle down...

Does anyone have an idea on Ivermectin dosage or can point me (and my vet) to the right place to get direction...I have kids ranging in weight from 200g up to 750g

If your vet insists on Ivermectin, she will also want to use injectable, but the injections hurt, are expensive and often do not work. You CAN use it topically and it works well. I have done this for mites with no issue. Retreat every 7-10 days 3 times, doing a complete cleanup of the cage in between each dose.

I would say use Revolution. It costs me here in Canada $15 plus tax. Its one dose, no stress, no worry... easy! No diluting, no retreating and its very effective. Just one small drop between her shoulder blades, then a full cage clean and BAM! No mites.

Revolution is much more effective for mites. Dose for revolution is 4 - 8 mg/454.4 grams, applied to the back of the neck. Works for 4 weeks.

Well I will insist on Revolution! Sounds better! and easier...and if my boys continue to itch in a few days or it gets worse, I will give her a call...I assume like my dogs and cats I should treat all the rats even if no signs of itching?

Treat all rats, clean the cages well, wash hammocks etc, and freeze anything wooden for 72 hours.

Thanks! I always forget about the freezing or baking stuff...
I will give it a few more days 'cause no one but the boys are itchy and I think maybe its just me over analysing...cause I have been watching them more since their neuter...and if they did not have mites before why would they have them now...right?
I think I have lost my mind! lol
