My rats have always done this too! I assume it's just a "hey, ease off the grooming"
Though maybe ratbehavior.org has something to say about this?
Yep thats normal. Sometimes they power groom, and it can be a testing of dominance from my understanding. I catch my boys pinning eachother and grooming and then the rat whos pinned will be like whoa! *squueeee*
A squeak just means HEY I dont like that.
Nope nothing to worry about at all. I always laugh when my boys groom each other aggressively. I find it adorable to watch.
Clark doesn't have a cage mate yet so he grooms his daddy's head and nails - very funny and was trying to groom our cat, but he was grooming a bit too hard and she had enough of him and he got a head butt! Clark just love our putty and keeps trying to play with her - she wants nothing to do with him!
How cute!! I know when Tammy tries to groom my cat, he runs in the opposite direction as fast as he can! He's a scaredy cat!
Are cat isn't scared it more like "You again!"
