Is this normal?

I recently acquired this little girl and I've noticed her right eye (left in the image) has a dark, red center to it?

I've never seen this before and I first I thought it was just how the light was hitting her eye, but her other one's not like that at all, and it's even slightly visible in this picture.

I know rats can have two different colored eyes, and I wonder if that's what you guys think it is? Or could it be something more serious?

Here's a couple more of her eye.

I'd thought of it being an odd-eye, because when it lights up with the flash her entire eye appears red, and if you guys think it might be a medical issue, i'll take her to have it looked at.

Looks like it may have been injured at one time, like a scratch. Does she seem to be bothered by it?

no, it doesnt seem to bother her at all. She lets me rub around it and over it and everything, and she's never really rubbing at it or anything, I just happened to notice it when I was holding her.

Keep an eye on it and no pun intended. lol But it could be an injury. Hopefully it will clear up. If you see any other symptoms, off to the vet she goes.

I was thinking this myself. See if you can take a photo with almost like 'drowning' it out with a flash. Put her on something white and use the flash like crazy. You should be able to see if the whole eye is ruby.

It looks more like an odd eye rat to me.

Finley came here at about 9weeks old with an eye injury it is usually white.

The pictures I have seen of ones with bloody inside eyes there isnt much doubt when you look at it, they are gross in real life.

It's extremely clear in person that the eye seems to be a really dark red and the rim is darker, almost black? But when the light hits it just right it's extremely noticeable. I was using the flash from my camera and I was watching her eye completely flash bright red but in the picture only the center was red lol

After looking through pics online she seems to be an odd eye to me, which I find rather cool O:

I think they best way to show red eyes is natural light an no flash.

With Roosevelt, the only time I could tell is with the flash. *shrugs?* But to me, the new photos looks like an odd eye.

You can kind of see the red to the right, but it's not as bright. Looks slightly like yours.

Keiran is odd-eye as well which is definitely high-white..same type of dark ruby eye and black eye with a blaze.

Looks odde eye to me too, reminds me of my boy Nes. His eyes are ruby like that, but they are both red so lol
