I have five girls that all get along great with each other. I just got three rats around the same age as my girls, a neutered boy and two girls.
The three new rats are also very closely bonded with each other.
How do I do introductions with so many rats? one on one, a couple at a time, just toss them all on the bed together or what?
I can't do intros in the bathroom/tub for several reasons, that room isn't safe and two of my girls are absolutely terrified of the tub (no clue why)
I actually can't use my bed because it's just a mattress on the floor and they could take off, and my bedroom is not rat safe
That really only leaves a table top or the rat room.
I don't even know where to begin!
I have the new kiddos in a Martins' Playpen in the rat room with my girls, who are in a CN cage
My girls get out to free range and so far they've spent a fair amount of time going over the rats in the playpen, all puffed up and looking fierce, and made threatening looking movements towards them.
The new rats look interested at times, scared at others, and occasionally one will puff up like my girls and look like he's itching for a fight (the big boy)
The youngest rat is 15 mos, oldest is coming up to 20 mos and all of the others are 17-18 mos old
Are they too old to introduce to each other?
I'd like to be able to let them all out to play at the same time, is that an unrealistic goal?
