Introducing a new rat.

I have had my rat over a year now and he has lived alone. I was recently told they need companionship so I went out today and got another girl rat who is half my rats size. The big rat keeps making her cry, Is it hopeless that they will live together or will they work it out.

Is the boy neutered? or the girl spayed?

They are both females.

That is good because your first post say he needed a companion and then you said you got a girl. How old is this girl? the new one?

They didn't tell me but i'd say 3mths maybe. They seem to be getting along alot better now. I guess the big one needed to lay down the law. The little one is learning really quickly, This morning the big one was washing her ears, so I quess we're good.

Some rats will squeak during grooming but it's harmless.
If you don't see any scratches, cuts or bleeding, I'd let them work it out.
