I have taken over this 8 month old girl tonight. She has not had it good, apparently, when her teeth are over grown. I do not know if the pictures are made, but one tooth down so long and runs through the upper lip and pushing on her eye.
The teeth in the upper jaw grows sideways and there is a missing!
I do not use animal doctor until Monday, but we are in Norway and here are skills lacking.
I hope someone can advise me on what I can do with this girl, I'd rather not kill her!
She weighs just 190gram. Thank you in advance!

I think it looks as if her tooth causes her eye is very protruding.
It is full of porphyrin and is completely different from the other eye ..
Am so frustrated at this treatment of an animal, and that she has not gotten help earlier ..

Here we go

To me it looks like she snapped her top teeth and her right one (our left in the pics) was broken right off. The bottom corresponding tooth not having that top tooth to grind against to keep it trimmed down has overgrown. At this point I just see a small trim to that long tooth on the bottom. If as you say that long tooth has punctured her cheek, then she should probably have pain meds and antibiotics as well.

Can I ask the animal doctor to cut the long tooth and hope this works out for her?
Should she be anesthetized for this?

I've had rats for 12 years but never experienced dental problems before ..
This rat is 8 months old.

Tonight she eats baby porridge, it takes a long time, but she was enjoying herself.
She has gone right into my heart!!

Lots of people trim maloccluded teeth...I have but really hated doing it plus it was just me holding rat and trimming.

With this it looks like that bottom tooth will need trimming until the top tooth has grown back in (probably a few trims later...rat teeth grow insanely fast when unopposed)

I think it would be best to let your vet trim her and its up to him/her whether he gives her a whiff of gas as chemical restraint or not.

IS the tooth piercing her cheek? This is vital to know.

Have a little trouble understanding :/
Tanna has almost made holes in her upper lip ..
For me it looks like there has been a problem long as her teeth in the upper jaw has moved very far away from normal.

Hmmm...if its cut into her lip, not just touching it you might need to trim it a little so its not hurting her anymore.

is there anything i can do now to relieve the pain?

I rescued a rat that had overgrown teeth, and we trimmed her teeth both ways, with cat nail clippers, and then under anaesthetic with a diamond disc in a power tool. Both times we trimmed her teeth with the nail clippers, the teeth split, even though the clippers were brand-new. We had much better results with the diamond disc. Your rat may need trims for the rest of her life if her upper teeth do not grow back normally. I would give your rat food she does not need to chew until she can get to the vet, as she may have a hard time bringing her teeth all the way together to chew her food. Good luck!
