Long convoluted story, lots of effort to play my Part...haha. but in the end some very sick rats I think.
This ad has been up since Nov,. 17th. I emailed and didn't really get a response, so last night I emailed again and got one from "Sam".

Three 10 week old brothers in need of a good home. They are all hairless dumbo rats who were born with vision problems and will need special care and lots of love and attention. For example, they will need a single-story cage for safety and a conscientious person who will make sure that the layout of the cage stays the same after every cleaning. Aside from the vision problems they are completely healthy.
These are pets that were handled daily since birth with wonderful little personalities, so I would appreciate it if people did not contact me wanting them for feeders. Please be willing to answer a few questions about their care.
After talking to this person, they asked if I could take 2 more sickies as well as the boys. A nakie girl (sister) with the same eye issue, and a standard girl with inner ear infection and a head tilt that worsens by the day...sigh. These rats would not be getting any vet care, because they are terrible vets out in that area, and there's no more vet appointments until the new year. No pics to help me determine anything just descriptions.
Here are the relevant bits from all the emails back and forth last night
Hairless boy with both eyes in jeopardy - Sheldon
Hairless boy with one eye problem - Raj
Hairless boy runt - Howard
Head tilt - Chloe
Hairless girl with eye problem - Roxy
**Chloe is the only one who knows her name thank god LOLOL
All snake shop rescues. The nakie boys and girls were born there from a pregnant nakie rescue.
It's not porphyrin, I've treated that before - it's actual blood from the eyes themselves. They're eating and drinking and otherwise seem to be in good shape...please tell me that that's at least a good sign?
The ones with the eye problems all have red eyes - it's so hard to describe, but it almost seems as though the eyes are shrunken and then it looks like a piece of something is sticking out of them, but I don't want to touch it for fear it's attached to the entire eyeball.
Chloe, the headtilt girl, is at about 45 degrees right now, but seems to be getting worse by the day...I was planning on taking her to be treated, but as I said, the vet can't see her until the new year and the thought of her in pain until then just kills me.
No, the eyes don't look dry. Two of the three young boys are together, one is by himself (with lots of attention from me) because he's the runt and was being picked on. The mom is in the cage with the two girls and Chloe is in a large community cage with other females.
(very sad to be separating the eye issue nakie girl from her family but I cannot take in the 2 healthy girls on top of all of this, I will try to intro her to Chloe or someone ASAP)
