Couldnt have come at a worse time either.. But alas, when I pet Dante just now I noticed a small lump on his back. It felt like it was right by his spine but not right no it. Small , smaller than a pea I think. He is just around a year old ( I don't know his birthday or anything).. Do you think it could be a tumor? or maybe just an absess? I couldn't get a really good feel of it, since he doesn't really like to be man handled. I will try to get a better feel after he is done his veges. If it is an absess would it be squishy? or hard? it feels like it is just under the skin, not deep or anything. Almost like you were petting a dog and felt a wart on it, but like under the skin. He is already on Doxy/Baytril for a uri( possible pnemonia since La Jolla has that) If ti is an abcess will he need more meds? I cannot get him in for at least a week because I am going on vacation tomorrow for 6 days. I have a rat sitter to look after them.. but do you think this needs immediate attention? He isn't in pain or anything and I just noticed it now.

Any info woudl be good, I am very worried..

I got a better feel of it, it is quite small, smaller than a pea I would say, or at least it is a small pea. I lifted his skin and the lump came with it, I could get my fingers completely around it so I guess it isn't attached to his main body, just the skin. It was hard, not squishy. I will wet him down tomorrow to see if I can get a better look at this thing.

Those meds should work perfectly for an abscess. If it is one, you probably won't have to take him back to the vet unless it gets really bad. Just try doing the warm compress thing and keeping an eye on it. I hope that's all it turns out to be. <3

I don't know at all how they feel like so I can't help you there. :c

Sounds like an abcess to me as well... could also be a cyst, and in both cases, Baytril and Doxy should clear it up.

Okay, I will try the warm compressed when I get back, for now I hope it doesn't bother him at all.
