Hey all my vet gave me some Chloramphenicol. In any event she compounded it down to 116mg/ml. But it is too thick. I can't get my syringe to even suck it up. And to make matters worse she compounded it so much that the dose she told me to give is .3cc...How in the heck am I suppose to give .3cc to a rat? OMG. I hate this new vet. I thought for sure she would be great but she is a ditz. So any ideas on how to thin it out and then how does that mess up the dosing?

You could thin it out as you give it, maybe mixing it with a little soy milk. Is your rat eating OK? You could thin it out and then put it in a little bit of bread.

Another idea would be to buy a 3ml syringe without a needle, then use it to suck up enough Chloramphenicol to thin out enough for a few days' dosing at a time.

Each time I had to give Chlorpalm, it was always a very high does, never under 0.5 cc. But the good news was my rats loved it. It is very thick but if left out at room temperature for a wee bit it softens.
