how to keep rats from getting under/into rocker/recliner?

I may need to use my living room for free range time for awhile, and I've got this rocker/recliner
that they will climb inside-
not good!!

any hints on how to keep them out of it?

they can't get inside it from the seat, only from underneath it.

I did this when I ratproofed my room and it worked really well. Just make sure that you tape the seams as well. I missed one, and of course they found it!

You can also get a fridge box from an appliance store and use that. That's what we use for our enclosure.

I buy my coroplast from Home Depot, it's corogated plastic board.
But big cardboard would work just fine.
