I got 2 baby rats from the SPCA they are 10 weeks. I need to introduce them to my 9 month old male but don't know how. He isn't an easy rat and doesn't get along with many. Including spayed females. Currently they are staying with my senior male happily.

Is your 9 month old male neutered? That might make the intros go much easier.

He is not. He only seems to fight when things are involved. If they are in the tub, cage, couch, etc. they are fine. But regardless of where they are, if I add toys, houses, etc. he fights with others. He does whether the toys are old or brand new. He pushes his butt into them, chases them, puffs his fur, pins them down, chases away or out of things.

This makes sense...when he has something to claim, he owns it. A neuter would really help him cope with all that extra stress.

He has a neuter scheduled for Thursday. How long after does it take for hormones to subside?

For some rats, they have a change right away. Other rats may take a lot longer to calm down, even two or three months. Hopefully your boy will settle down quickly, but if he doesn't, then don't get discouraged! Be patient...
