Hi. my neville had a sneezing fit on tuesday but it was totally isolated, and he had no porph staining...Last night though, he had another one but also what looked like a bloody nose...just one nostril was leaking blood. Some of it i got on a paper towel and it dried brownish like blood, but a lot of it is staying bright red (just the drops on my hardwood floor stayed bright red). He still has no porph staining on his nose or eyes. Does this sound like a normal resp. infection?
We have an appt with dr. munn tomorrow at 940 am.

How much is baytril usually? What about doxy. Can I ask for extra to have on hand for future flare ups?

sorry, i added urgent cause i may have to borrow some money for the meds and need to now howmuch by tomorrow morning.

I don't know how much dr. Munn charges for his Baytril but we pay about $2 per ml.
Dr. Munn is an excellent vet, he'll know exactly what to do with your sweetie and what to prescribe. As for keeping some on hand, most vets won't do that, unless they know you very well and you have a really good relationship with them.

sorry I wasn't able to reply to your post in time because of computer glitches.

The visit is either 60 or 65, the baytril is about 30 and the doxy a bit more.

How did it go?

Thanks!!!!

I actually rescheduled the appointment for Monday because his sneezing has subsided (I didn't hear ANY sneezing from him last night, and no discharge). I'm still going to take him of course, but I got an appt for 3:20 pm rather than 9:40 am...I work evenings so getting somewhere for 9:40 am is like a normal person going to an appointment at 3am, haha.

From what I understand though, he should still be seen and probably have a course of meds, just to be sure, right?

Munn charges me anywhere from 55-65 for a 'first exam' regarding an issue, for revisits regarding previous issues he's already seen them for, I get charged anywhere from 15$ to 40$.

For 5ml of baytril, I pay $19.65. For Doxycycline(which has a 30 day BUD, also doesn't say how much is in the bottle but it's like half-full when i get it) I pay about $44.74.

For the Doxycycline they have, it has a 30-day BUD, which means it's ONLY good for 30 days. They'll explain this when you're there, though. If you ask, they'll even give it to you as a powder and liquid(suspending agent) so you mix the liquid and powder together yourself at home so its good for 30 days as soon as you mix it yourself.

Munn will be able to tell if Neville needs medication or not. He'll listen to his lungs with a tiny stethescope and he'll be able to hear if anything is unusual. :)

^Thanks, that really helps :)
And omg, tiny stethoscope, how cute! I'm actually excited to go now!

so the appt was today. it ended up being 70 for the exam, 40 for the doxy, and 20 for the baytril.
Plus hst.
definitely reasonable.

Dr munn said he looks and sounds really healthy, but since he'd had the sneezing and sooo much porph, we should just do the course of meds so it bacteria nasties dont take hold and progress.
