Hi

I just weighed Norman and he is 1119 gram or 2.45 lbs! I haven't weighed Fiona yet, but I am guessing she will be around 300g. Norman is neutered, so I think that probably makes him squishier then if he wasn't neutered.

How much do your rats weigh?

And i thought Crank was big... lol
Crank is 690 grams and Pickle somewhere between 535-550 grams.
Little bugger won't stop moving!
Pickle: NO! NOT THE SCALE!! *squirm*
:giggle:

Holy crap that boy is huge

Missy is 450 grams
Tilley is 460 grams
Dazzle is 460 grams
Lexis is obese at 630 grams

My other two are babies so their weights aren't helpful lol.

There is no ideal weight for rats though, what is far more important is their shape and muscle tone, as a small framed rat like lexis is obese at 630 grams, but a large muscular boy could be healthy at that weight.

My boys are on the average side:

Sam - 551g
Dean - 520g
Londo - 533g
Lenir - 592g
G'Kar - 442g
Bobby - 544g
Chuck - 115g (natal, I have no idea what they *should* weigh?)
Ash - 192g (@8 weeks)
Loki - 185g (@8 weeks)

That boy is too huge. that weight is not good for his body, his lungs and heart etc are all working overtime to enable him to live. Eeegh!

You are positive on that weight? How old is he supposed to be?

Wait I did it again and he is 730g I thought I tared the weight of the container but I must not have, opps. He is still very large though

I just adopted Norman this past Saturday, and I realize he is way too large. He is at least 1.5 years old. He was at the rescue since last winter and was an adult when he was found in the snow bank. I try to give him lots of free time out, but he usually does a few laps around the room then settles in for a snooze.

Fiona is 272g

*whew* thank god!! If he has a long big frame he's still heavy but he's not in such dangerous shape. :p

I have a boy who is biiig at 723 grams, but he's also getting a bit chubby...good for him would be about 660 grams or so.

I am hoping with lots of free ranging, and limiting his treats to just veggies and the occasional piece of fruit that he will come down a bit in weight. Plus I have them on the Oxbow Regal Rat which they don't seem to mind, and I think i will order some of the Harlen Teklad lab blocks. It really sucks that none of the pet store carry any decent rat food. I went to 6 different pet stores and only 1 carried the Regal Rat the rest just had hamster food or seed mixes :rant2:

If anything, buying Harlan is cheaper than buying food at a petstore. I can buy 33lbs of Harlan from Ontario for the same price as 14lbs of Excursion at our petstore :)

I actually just weighed my boys for the first time. I got a chunker!

Paulie: 789g (He needs a hardcore workout!)
Toby: 621g
Mortimer:595g
Napoleon:582g
Gustave: 514g
Ocho: 516g
Sprocket:498g
Sherlock:458g
Zeus: 332g (approx 2.5mos old)
Aristotle: 310g (approx 2.5mos old)

Here's Paulie...yes...when he sits his fat can take up a whole small cat dish. HAHA
