Well, i recently got a new rat, so we let her settle in for a couple days, and today i gave her a bath.
she is STILL yellow (after a 20 minute scrubbing) where she should be white.
what do i do?

oh. and she still stinks like high heavens.

A good diet, clean cage and time should help her appearence and smell improve.

I have had rescues that smelled horrible.
The vet said the filth was down into their hair shafts and would have to grow out.
With time it did and they looked and smelled much better.

Zoos rinse their polar bears in a mild vinegar solution to keep them white. I don't think vinegar is good for rats, but I get amazing results with bicarbonate of soda on stained chopping boards.

But SQ is right, diet and some other rats to groom her will make an amazing difference.

How old is she? Her off colouring could be porphyrin staining. But SQ is right, with a good diet and clean habitat she should start to smell better and look better.
