How can I tell?

Well I noticed a bump on one of my girls, Dutchess. I tried to take pictures, but I couldn't get any good ones... I couldn't get any where you could actually see the bump or anything like that. It's to the left of her pee hole... and really close to it. I took her to the vet to find out if it was a tumor or abcess... and he told me to put a warm wash cloth on it twice a day, to see if it pops for the next week... which was about 3 weeks ago. before i used the wash cloth it grew a little, but hasn't for the past few weeks shown any signs of getting bigger. i don't want to wait if it's something i can treat... but anyway i did what he said, it was hard keeping her in a warm rag for like 5 minutes twice a day... but anyway, nothing happened? it's probably the size of a marble, or maybe a little smaller than the size of a small marble. and i think it feels pretty hard.

Is the skin discolored on/around the bump?

3 weeks and no change? This might be a ewww request but does it have a foul odor?
Some abscesses are very stubborn and can take some time to come to a head.

I have literally just updated a post on Patrick this morning. I found a lump on his side, took him to the vet who said it was a cyst, and 4 months later it has developed a scab and im trying to soak the gunk out
