I just found these, I know I am adding it to my rats medical/first aid pack.  It's a home test for glucose, kidney, blood, etc.  What a great way to monitor rats health!  We tend to not find out things until they show symptoms, this seems like a good way to check certain things so you can seek prompt medical treatment.

They can be purchased elsewhere too.

As far as I can tell, they are good for all animals. When I get some I can post more info. I know I still have to find what their normal levels are, but as tested as rats are that shouldn't be too hard. If it is what I think, the paper will turn a color, and it gives you a key that tells you what number range whatever you're testing is.

Wouldn't you need a fair amount of urine? It if works on just the bit the rat does then that's great. I'll definitely be adding those to my wish list.

The instructions suggest gathering your pee in a cup, then to quickly do a dip and wipe, but with an eyedropper I'm pretty sure it would work, it would accomplish the same goal of soaking the test squares. It would probably be easiest to not do a full ten panel at once though. If it was the kind of test that needed to stay in the urine the whole time that definitely wouldn't work.
