My sweet Jesse (aka Loki) whom I adopted from Riana, is one of the Oromocto rescues. Three of the girls (many of you have read the story of Dandelion) have already died from either respiratory or heart issues, and I have heard that one of their brothers is having resp problems.

Jesse's breathing is audible without a stethoscope, sounding whistly. He has not responded to Baytril/Doxy, so my vet would like me to try Chlorpalm. Too bad that only one pharmacy in the area has it (and it is a LONG drive from me!). They did a great job of compounding it in a peanut-butter-flavoured solution that Jesse licked up with no hesitation. We can all be thankful to SQ's dear Caleb who tested out some bad-tasting batches of Chlorpalm three years ago and helped the pharmacy know what to do.

So I am hoping for the best. If this doesn't work I will ask to try heart meds.

Jesse is a sweet cuddly manrat. I don't want anything bad to happen to him. He is not even two years old. :(

I will be hoping for the best for dear Jesse.
Funny that it is hard to get Chlorpalm....that is one of the most widely used antibiotics by our vet.......amoxicillin or chlorpalm is what we use at the shelter for URI at the shelter........Baytril and Doxy was unheard of here.......

Wondering how old is Beth's Wiley......He was Riana's Rose.......Is he older then Jesse......or the same age?

He is older then Jessie.
Riana had two boys and then adopted 2 babies - Jessie and his brother, from me.
They are brothers to the Oromoncto girls - Debbie, Dandelion, Snowball, etc. are their sisters.
Lots of chf in that family and one of their brothers is declining with a respir. problem.

Godmother, did you try zithro + baytril?
or a bronchodilator?
The bronchodilator as a puffer is really helping his brother, and heart meds are really making a difference to 3 of his sisters right now.
