Help! Vet needed!

Folks, I have an adorable female rat who is less than a year old. I'm quite attached to her.

She has a cyst on her lower belly near her vagina, about 2x3 centimeters.

One vet quoted $1,000 to remove it, but I got the sense they just really didn't want to work on a rat. Another quoted me $600. My wife is furious that I would consider it. Does anyone know where I can find a vet who will do it for less?

I'm in Bracebridge, Ontario.

is the vet sure it's a cyst?
what is the reason for removing it, the location?

I know cysts on people are not usually troublesome, I'm thinking on rats they may not be a problem either.........?

is it bothering her in any way?

If your girl is under a year old, is there a chance she has an abscess? Can you take pics and show us?
