The baby girl looked a lot smaller a few hours ago ... wondering if her water broke earlier as nothing was wet.
Gave her a piece of boiled egg an hour or two ago and she hasn't touched it.
Just checked on her by removing the cover of the box her nest is in.
Lumps are sticking out quite a bit on her sides, she is in discomfort, nipped my fingers,
and no sign of babies yet.
She has been in her nest since I check on her 3 hours ago, and who knows how long before.
How do I tell if she is having contractions?
How do I tell if she is having problems? If labour needs to be induced and How?
When do I know to get her to a vet? - Energency vet on call knows nothing about rats but willing to help in the past.
Waiting for a call from the emergency vet.
Edit: She just had a baby so I'm going to leave her alone and check again in awhile.
I am assuming that everything is ok ....
When Laurel had her babies, I was in Clarks taking pictures for the rat train and when I came out several hours later, Laurel was in the backseat with her sister (Toofer Jane) and eight new babies. I have experience with several litters but not with births ....
