no, not pink eyed, and it wasn't the swaying back and forth that PEWS do to see things better,
this was a violent shake like you had water in your ears or something...??

oh I'm sorry, I should explain

well, I really didn't want to explain, because I'm still grieving my Hope, but this is about something she was doing in the day before she died, and a LOT in the last hour of her life

also after she was given the subQ sedative, she was head pressing a LOT.
vet said that she was disoriented from the drug

but, anyway, in the last 24 hrs of her life, she shook her head a lot, and I was just wondering, if that meant she might have had another problem developing or was it possibly the pain meds she was on, or....?

I sometimes see the other rats shake their heads like that, but they only do it once in a great while, no where near the way that Hope was in that last day

she wasn't able to reach her ear on one side and I skritched it and cleaned it as best as I could but this seemed to be too frantic to be just a dirty or itchy ear, it seemed more like a compulsive action....
not so much a voluntary one, if you know what I mean???

Could've been late onset PT kicking in, could've been an inner ear infection developing...

are sick rats more likely to get an inner ear infection?

I'm going thru that regrets part of grieving, what else could I have done for her....
I lost my three most unique girls right in a row, Cookie, Paige and Hope. Each one had such strong personalities
I'm still kinda in shock
:(

You did EVERYTHING you could for your little girl, no one could have done better or had her live longer and happier. You let her go when she told you it was enough, do not second guess yourself on this one.
