Okay idk what's going on with Bobo he did so well for the first week after I moved all of them together they were cuddling and eating together I even put two food dishes and two water bottles so they would have enough food and water. In the first week he wasn't even really being a bully but the last two days he has suddenly been horrid to the other two he starts random fights and not nice ones either I've tried the time out cage for ten minutes and it hasn't changed a thing he is biting hard marco now have nicks on their body everywhere but they werent serious but tonight it escalated to Ziggy now screams when bobo comes near him and he took a huge bite out of Marcos side to the point I had to apply pressure and flour to stop the bleeding. I moved Bobo to the extra cage but I don't understand the sudden change in him what would cause him to be suddenly so aggressive? Dixie is no longer in heat and started at this extreme around the time she came out of heat and they are in diffrent rooms so I don't think it's cause of her. And this is exactly what happened between him and his last cagemate pixel before he passed away. We had to keep introducing them and they would be fine and lovey doves for the first week or two then bobo would just turn aggressive I thought it was because I wasn't taking intros slow enough but now it happening all over again :sad3: I'm just so confused am I doing something wrong?

Have you had Dixie all along or is she a recent addition? Even being in another room and not in heat the boys can still smell her so she could still be the issue.

Oh no. I am so sorry. I know you've been trying so hard to introduce them properly and things were going so well.

Is Marco okay? Poor little man.

Poor Bobo too, he must be so stressed which is probably the reason he is aggressive.

Keep us updated on the issue but never fully give up.
How soon can you get Dixie spayed?

I'd say it's time to get Bobo neutered. It could be that he senses the boys are maturing and becoming hormonal so he needs to be more rough so they continue to respect him. But he shouldn't be biting them.

Yeah Dixie is a new addition and the reason I don't think it's her is because Bobo has done this with his last cagemate and that was long before any female so this type of behavior isn't new. The boys becoming more mature makes sense. They around the same age as pixel was, it just gets so bad the boys won't even come down off the first level majority of the time and Bobo tries to come up and cuddle and they just start nipping him in the face and pushing him away he usually finally curls up and goes to sleep by them since they won't let him in the hammock so I know he still wants companionship but then randomly he will wake up walk over to the boys and beat the crap out of them until they get out of his grip and run from him and keep trying to hide in the cage but you can tell both Marco and Ziggy are scared of death of Bobo even during playtime they won't come out of the cage we literally have to go pick them up and they just spend the whole time on our shoulders or lap and heaven forbidd Bobo climb up on us they'd just scream at him

He is already 18months old will he be okay to be fixed? I thought it was only beneficial for males is if you did it early on.

I've had neuters done at all ages and it has worked each and every time.
I find it very odd though, that your intros went so well and now this.
You mentioned scabs on your rats, maybe they have a mites? That can cause a rat to become quite grumpy.

No the scabs are from obvious bite marks they aren't small scabs just not deep but I know they are caused from Bobo biting them plus Bobo doesn't have any scabs or scratches and they have accumulated too many of them over the last few days for it to be mites and it confuses me too. I don't understand why Bobo can be so patients and sweet one second then turn around and just decide to do a full on attack. What bothers me about it is the total randomness. Bobo just gets up and walks towards them and attacks them totally unprovoked. I will get mite medication just incase but Bobo and Dixie are both going in to get fixed Friday. But Bobo did the same thing before with the previous cagemate maybe I should just try putting him and Dixie together after they heal from surgery maybe Bobo just doesn't like other males idk :(

No I've tried I haven't been able to catch it and now Bobo is in a separate cage til he is fixed and all healed or should I put them back together now? So they can still live together until Friday ? Maybe I could get a vid of it. But by the time I have the camera out one of the little ones have gotten outta Bobos grip and either jumps on me or goes into the bookshelf or cage to hide they don't even want Bobo to come near them :(

So I have another question in regards to taking in Bobo and Dixie. The vet wants them to stay for 24 hours so I have to bring with me a cage and fresh clean blankets for them and some of their favorite treats. Is there anything else I should bring for their overnight stay? I'm also gonna bring an extra blanket to request they cover their cage so they won't have drafts from the A/C and so it will help reduce their stress levels

Okay I'm actually in the process of mixing in oxbow in their food so they can adjust to it... On that note I'm actually not having any issues they pick out all the oxbow and leave the rest I think they think its treats lol

Sorry, haven't been on the shack in a couple days ..... Hope everything went well for your babies  :hugs: Healing vibes from us and the 12 pack :cuddle:
