Poor little Gracie has head tilt.
She has been having difficulty getting around but I have attributed it to her age and the fact that one of her back feet is swollen. Medicam helped the swelling to go down but her foot is still bigger then normal.
Tonight when her group was out free ranging in the livingroom I called for her and when Gracie came running to me I noticed her head was twisted sideways, she couldn't run in a straight line and Grace was practically rolling over. I can't believe how fast it must have gotten this bad ... I have her out daily and never norticed a head tilt until tonight

Anyway, Grace started on pred and antibiotics tonight so I hope to soon see a difference.
This makes 19 ratties currently on meds ... at least I never have to worry about having left over medication ...

Poor Gracie!

Two of my ratties have had tilts, one lost it, one never did. Sometimes they come in what seems like minuets. I wish your girl luck!

Poor Gracie! It does happen so fast. Lots of kisses and banana mash to her, and wishing her a speedy recovery. I remember Clara being really bad like that, falling all over the place, but she improved quickly on the meds.

Jorats, Gracie is approx two years old.
And I have been noticing that at times she seems confused ... hope and pray that it is not pt. I want more time with my sweet girl.

From what I was told, she was used at a mill as a breeder for 2 litters, then retired and sent to a pet store to be snake food. A snake owner bought pregnant Gracie. Gracie had her babies in early December 2007 ... with 3 being allowed to live ... the remainder were snake food. I rescued Gracie in early January 2008, after her three surviving babies were weaned ... the snake owner didn't want to keep my sweet little Gracie because Gracie bit her .... Gracie.

Just took a few pictures of Gracie. As you can see in the (not so good) pictures she has quite the head tilt. Great better soon, Gracie .. :hugs:

When I took Gracie out to give her meds today, she started rolling in my hands :sad3:
so she is continuing to get worse.

Will give the meds another day or so and then try a different antibiotic combo. Presently have Gracie on baytril + doxy. Would there be a better combo?

Gracie is getting worse.
Started her on chlorplam today, and continuing the baytril and the pred.
Does this sound ok?
I did discuss it with my vet but also want to hear from those of you who are experienced with this.

I think that I'm going to have to put Gracie to sleep :sad3:
She continues to get worse and eating soft food is becoming more and more difficult for her.
When I pick her up it is very very difficult to keep her from rolling and she is losing her ability to get around in the cage.

Hoping the meds soon start to help but very afraid that they are not going to ... :sad3:
