I have two new baby girls. They are about 8 weeks old and have been home with me for 2 weeks now. I can get them to come out and see me, will crawl all over me, take treats from my hand. When they settle down I can give them a nice scratch behind their ears. The problem is when I try to pick them up. I let them sniff my hand and will try and pick them up by scooping but they will just run away. Any suggestions getting this little grils use to be picked up?

thanks

Ally

Pick one up at a and hold her securely for 2-3 minutes away from the cage. When you put her back give her a treat, repeat a few times a day with each rat so they can associate getting picked up with good things :)

The more you do it the more they should get used to it. If you give a treat each time you pick them up they will associate to something good.
Have something small like half a cheerio for them. Or have some yogurt on your finger and when you pick one up, let them smell it and lick it then put back down and repeat.
