Today while handling my two younger boys I noticed that they sounded a bit Congested. I was trying to think of what could cause this then i started to think of the gardenias! My mother loves the smell of them and while we were visiting the rest if my family she had some on their cage. (cause it was by the air vent and wanted it to go threw the house.) she also brought some back I looked into it and they are toxic! But they are toxic to eat. If eaten the animals will get hives, vomit, and have diarrhea. They are extremely toxic to cats too! I am not sure if the smell from it caused them to sound congested. I do plan on calling my vet in the morning? As anyone else had a similar problem? Do you think it could have cause them to sound congested? Also does anyone know what are other toxic plants and their symptoms? They only other two I know are lavender and pine.

I don't think the toxicity is in the odour. But the strong fragrance could make them sneezy an congested. Make sure there is nothing around them now and give them a day or two.
