Freya is the sweet little hooded ratty that Boyfriend and I adopted from Chelle's Critter Haven recently.
She's young and small (not sure of weight, but around 3 months I think?)

On our way out of the house, she climbed up on the CN door and I noticed something on her neck. :panic:

I'm not sure how long it's been there - but I'm sure it's new.

There hasn't been any change in her weight, eating habits, behavior, energy, etc. It's hard to see when her neck is stretched out, and in general since she's so energetic but I was able to get a few bad photos.

could very well be an abscess... because of the location, tumour, cyst or abscess, I'd still have it looked at but I don't think it's an emergency. If it's an abscess get antibiotics because neck/mouth ones can be a real pain to deal with.

I hope so. I don't like it's location. I noticed nothing yesterday, but it's fairly large today... but hopefully I just didn't see it and it's not growing super fast.

Definitely don't think it's an emergency... Let us know what the veterinarian says after palpating and possible aspiration. Good luck.

If it's a tumour or an abscess, aspiration is probably a bad idea - you don't want the infection or cells from the tumour to spread. Your vet will know best, but I would not go in requesting the lump be aspirated if I were you. Fingers crossed it's just an abscess that can easily be solved with antibiotics.

How's she doing? This post made my heart sink, you've only had her a month, and she's so young! :( I'm so sorry.

Thanks guys, I'll keep those things in mind.

Not a ton to update - nothing has changed. The size of it is the same, she still doesn't care when I poke at it. Her fur is super shiny and soft - her energy is still to the level of insanity. She's just as set about getting all the fluff out of our couch... :giggle:

We'll hopefully have her with a vet early next week.

I have high hopes it'll be an easy fix and that will be the end of it.

With how fast it came up, it really does sound like an abscess...have you intro'd her to your other girl? Its very unlikely to be a tumour since she's just a wee baby.

Wow, it's really hard to hold her and get a picture of UNDER HER HEAD at the same time. Impossible, really.

It looks like an abscess. It changed today - looks a little sore.

Vet appointment is 1:30 tomorrow afternoon.
We're also bringing Nibbler in since she's been slowing down a bit.

Thanks! =D

Yes, I'm very glad.
Any time I saw somebody post pictures, they looked more like she does with the red going on there so I had no idea they started out looking the way they do sometimes.

We're quite relived.
