Franka has been showing signs of her old age but last night and today has change everything. She is very lethargic and will not come out of the ball. When I picked her up she was very limp in my hands. She managed to take a few bites of their veggie shake but that was it. She started to panic a bit today and would push her chin along the couch with her arms back. :( We have an appointment for her tomorrow to have her PTS. It sucks...I think something happened inside her.
She was bloated the other day and today she feels skinny and squishy almost?
She may pass on her own tonight but if not then we'll help her along tomorrow :(
Sucks losing her so soon. She's our 5th loss in a month *sighs* Poor girl

I'm so sorry :hugs: It hurts the most when we see them confused, hurting, and so close to leaving us like that. My thoughts are with you tonight and tomorrow :sad3:

ok... so she decided she wasnt ready to go to the rainbow bridge .. :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:
it was the weirdest thing.. woke up to spend some time with her before brining her to the vet .... and there she was at the door with a different look in her eyes....??? everyone was hanging off the doors wanting their breakfast... even franka.... i picked her up and she just acted completely different than yesterday. i put her on the couch ... and she ran from one side to the next trying to get down like her normal self.... ???? for the last few days she was keeping one eye shut to almost shut... today... it was open wide!! gave them breakfast and we didnt have to put her in front of the food she just went for it on her own??!! wow... so made a call to the vet to cancel. shes not ready to go and were ok with that  our girl is such a fighter.
i know she will be going some time.. probably sooner than later (shes not exactly young anymore) ... but it WONT be today. this has made my day so much i cant even express how happy i am... linds too!

I am amazed at the 360 she took. She litterly looked like she was on her death bed telling us it's ok to let her go and then today she's up moving around greating us at the cage. I'm so amazed! These little creatures are such fighters!

Great news for Franka... I always wait a day or two before I make the decision cause quite often rats have bad days and good days just like us.

:bunnydance: Glad to hear her day is going much better then the last. Hurray Franka.

I'm not surprised. I'm never surprised with these kids. One that's fine has a problem one day and the vet says she's full of tumors and needs to go now for her sake. Another is so compromised with chronic problems but heals from one new crisis to another eating & bruxing & loving life.
I can be devastated, or shocked or grateful or amazed. But surprised? Nah. :wink2:
Rock on Franka, up your human's quota of smiles in their lifetime! And feel good and have fun doing it.

Franka had a very bad day today. The last few days she was doing so well, full of energy and escaping from the couch like usual but then today she was lethargic and was dragging her back legs behind her. She ate some breakfast so shes still eating which is good. But She wasnt moving very much today and quite limp when pickin her up. Going to keep a close eye on her and if she doesnt improve then we will make the appointment again :(

Is it just me, or do people find their animals tend to rally for a little bit before they are ready to go?

I've noticed that with rats big time. They really fight it and then the next day they are dead or dying.

Franka is dying right now in my arms :( She'll probably leave us soon she's barely breathing. She slept with us last night and didn't move the whole time. I think it looks like she has PT the way her stance is having her arms out streatched and her back kinda curled with feet forward. She doesn't look to be in pain...I hope she'll pass soon...it's so hard to watch.
