My youngest boys are finally old enough for our Vet to neuter them. :joy: Fletcher and Ezra are booked in for Wednesday. Danny and Justin are getting a pre-op check up that day, and are scheduled in the next morning for their neuters. A few more weeks and I can start intros with their ladies. :happydance: The Vet did a great job with Melvin's neuter, so I'm sure everything will go great. (at least that's what I've been repeating to myself )

Who did Melvin's neuter? Was it a vet from London? Best of luck to you all. :]

It was Dr. Jason Gerena at Clarke Rd Vet in London.

That's the vet I want to get my kids in with when I get my GST back. How did you like him? Was he personable? Friendly with your rats? Knowledgable?

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. :bunnydance:

OMG!! :gaah: On the bus ride to London Fletcher and Ezra decided to chew through their carrier. (of course this happened when we were stopped in Ingersoll with all the lights on- at least someone else was causing trouble so they drew most people's attention) I almost lost one of them on the bus. :panic: They were very stressed by the whole ordeal, much like I was. Poor boys. I managed to find something else to transport them to the Vet in, but I had to buy a small duffle bag so I'll be able to get them back to Woodstock safely. Anyways, the first two neuters went well. Fletcher and Ezra are here with me and seem to be doing well. They wouldn't eat for the Vet, so I picked them up early and made them yummy warm baby food that they ate right away. Justin and Danny are up tomorrow, and I'm sure it will go just as well. I have metacam that Fletcher and Ezra can have tomorrow morning as long as they continue to eat well.

He is awesome with rats and you can tell he really likes them and is very comfortable with them. He seems very knowledgeable, but he's willing to send you to a specialist if needed. He is very personable and I highly recommend Dr. Gerena. I've found some of the people that answer the phone are not very helpful, but Dr. Gerena and the staff that actually deal with the animals are great. I'm very pleased with how the stitches are internal to prevent them being chewed and the top of the incisions are glued. The neuters were only $100 each, but a pre-op exam is needed unless he's seen them before. The pre-ops are $45 each. Metacam costs extra, but it's not always needed.

Good luck boyos!! You are sooo gonna like girlies! :cheeky:

I've promised them three women each once they're "unloaded". I let the ladies meet Melvin a couple times and they were going crazy for him. I would have intro'd Melvin with the ladies better, but they were too much for him. :giggle: (Poor guy, I thought they were going to rip him apart so they could each have a piece) I'm very excited to have one big happy mixed colony. I know I have to wait, but time goes by so quickly it'll be time to do intros in no time. :happydance:

I'm blown away by the prices he charges for speuters, I'm convinced that my last vet was digging for gold! Even the appointment price is spot on, especially for a college student. I'm so relieved to get some more positive feedback about him! I live just down the street and this will make our lives so much easier. :happydance: I'd love to meet you for a coffee (or rum and coke :giggle:) sometime and say hi, I don't have any rattie friends in London.

Some Vets do seem very greedy, which is very sad, so it's nice to deal with ones that actually care about the animals.
I don't live in London, but I do try to visit often, and you can never have enough rattie friends nearby. I'm sure we could arrange tea/ vodka and water sometime. :wink2: If I'd have known you lived so close to the Vet I would have been knocking on your door earlier today while I waited for Fletcher and Ezra to be neutered. :giggle:

Well, I'll be calling to make an appointment for Osiris tomorrow so I'll be meeting him soon. I'm trying to figure out how to pronounce his last name.. That really bites because I only had one class this morning. We can work something out, it'll be fun!

Glad to hear everything went well with the neuters. Good news is really welcome these days. :D

I'm finally home from London. :joy: Justin and Danny's neuters went well today. I bet they're as happy to be home as I am.

Four neuters done and over with :joy: and you made it home without anyone chewing through the carrier :giggle:
Congratulations you can rest easy now. :D
