Mallymkun, Eleanor, and Lucy are at the vet with Dr. Hatch for their spays. It is the last of my girls that needed to be done! Now I can get them back with a group and hopefully drop the cage down by 1. Happy dance!

i am so happy this is the final of the girls........I seriously questioned if i could actually get them all done.....

When I was in the waiting room it was full of people, one little girl said, "are those mouses?" lol I explained they were rats and 3 of them to be exact. Another woman came up and asked if i was getting my rats spayed, i said yes, it saves them on tumors and chances of pregnancy, she said good for you! She also said she didn't know they could spay animals so small. If she only knew eh? A few dogs were really interested in what i had in the box and a few people were kinda dumb founded that i was there with rats :)

I can pick them up after noon so a few more hours of waiting. Keep your fingers crossed that my girls do ok.......

well my poor girls are home, Mally when we finally go in the house she was super wheezy, so I am watching her closely. Eleanor is nursing the towel, she has a touch of pica behavior, she just wont give up chewing on it, not eating it, but chewing it. of course the final 3 have to be goofy girls and have issues, but that is why they went last, mally has always been a bit of wheezer.

Mally had a cyst of some sort starting to grow in her uterus so her incision was a bit larger because it was harder to remove. Wonder if that is why she bite me all the time? I have felt her stomach before and she never acted like it hurt, but I guess we will see now if it stops. the other two had dark fluid filled uterus's. She said she wouldn't be surprised if they would of started showing a discharge soon.

I know! we have now moved on from healing vibes to stopping the pica behavior in Eleanor. For hours now she has gnawed on a towel, not ripping it just chewing on it. I thought maybe putting her back in her cage would ease her up a bit, wrong answer there. It made me laugh because she ran straight over to the litter box, and began stuffing her mouth with as much litter as she could fit. I had to take her out and put her back in the box so i can watch her better

The chewing could also be a sign of pain. Is she on pain meds now?

yes she is, she finally slowed down on her chewing about midnight. She slept. I left those 3 in a bin, so i could watch them closer but it was a mess with her. she wasnt doing the owie stretches at all, but you could tell she had an obsessive need to chew on things, she would do it as she was falling in and out of sleep. So far this morning, she doesnt appear to be doing it, but i just put her back with the girls. I am waiting for her to run to the litter box and see if she uses it or starts cramming her mouth full of litter.

The opiate should've worn off by now.

That is what i thought too. Eleanor is an odd girl anyway. She was chewing on a piece of litter, but it was just one, not a mouth full....So i am sure some of it could be because she is not comfortable, i gave her some pain meds and she went to sleep.
