Two of my first boys are fighting all of a sudden. These two are from my original group of five and have never fought with each other - they have been lovey slug muffins! Poor Kona has a large laceration across the top of his back and Bumbles had a puncture to the side of his face. Why are the fighting all of a sudden? They are around 19 months old. There have been some changes 1-Curley and Finn are no longer in their cage having passed away. 2-The trio was moved into the rat room, but that was awhile ago. 3-We do move their cage closer to the trio during out time and Bumbles especially hate them and gets all worked up about it, but we do that to keep which ever colony we have out at that time from getting on the other two cages. We have them blocked off w/chloroplast now. I'm just worried their aggression is another sign of something like their on and off dull eyes, and the left buldging eye they both have. :panic:

I would definitely think losing their friends would have an impact on their dynamic. Having the new group in that room may contribute as well. My boys will be "lovey slug muffins" (lol, great phrase) all day long, and as soon as they are out for playtime and wander under one of my other cages, all hell breaks lose and they start lashing out at each other.

That is why we had to get the chloroplast and build walls so no one could go under anyone's cages anymore - it was awful with all the hormones and scenting. Much better now ... not perfect, but better.....
