Ok well as most of you know I had a litter of 14 in may. I've found homes for all the babies except one (i'm keeping 2). My mom's Friend's Daughter is staying next door right now and she had a slight fear of rats. She used to have one a while back but after It died she didn't have anymore. And since then, every rat she'd seen always bit so her fear is obvious. She refuses to touch or go too close to my gigantic boys but I was holding one of my baby girls the other day and she decided to face her fears. She held her and fell in love. She couldn't believe how friendly they were and we started talking and I mentioned that I was trying to re-home one of my baby girls still. She said she wants her and still has to get a cage. (we work for the same company and she should be getting paid next week). She's going to be getting a house and really wants to have this rat. I told her she'd have to get another companion for it and she wanted me to help her because the rat would have to come from a pet store and she asked if I could handle it for her so it was like my babies.
So the next day we went there and I found the cutest sweetest little girl. She looks like she's maybe 4-5 weeks old and she's chocolate with an irish marking. Kim, her future owner, named her Fidget because of how she likes to jump around and well, fidget all the time. Within a few hours this girl would sit calmly in your hand and seemed so interested in people. Everytime someone walks by her cage (she's in quarentine) she jumps up on the side and begs for attention. The other day she became very playful and hyper. She'd wrestle with your hand just like any rat would wrestle with another. My question however, is that my mom thinks that she's not playing. When you play with her, she'll jump around and get on her hind legs and box with you then dart around and jump on your hand and just go crazy. Sometimes she also grabs your fingers and nibbles on them then runs around again. My mom thinks she's nibbling because she doesn't like hands in her cage but I honestly think she's just playing. Do you think it is aggression?
Also, we're going to be moving to California come january time. We're driving and it'll be about 36 hours (not including stops) Do you think the rats will be ok in travel cages as long as they're roomy enough? I just don't want to strees them out too much.
Aaand, my mom is worried that I acted too soon on getting Fidget and she's not sure if Kim is really going to take them. She thinks she might look at them as something to say "look what I have" and show them off but not really pay attention to them. Since I'm moving to california, if Kim doesn't take the baby before that, then I'll have to keep her. I'm wondering if there is anyone in california that may want to adopt two girls (my other girl is 6 months but she's still pretty small). If so please let me know because If this girl doesn't take these babies then I've just taken a step back in adopting out my girls.
