Ginger got in a mild scrap with one of the young girls during out time a couple weeks ago. It was a cut above her eye. She is so hard to 'pin down', and it was in an awkward spot, so aside from wiping it with a warm cloth, couldn't do much.
It is infected now... her eye is almost completely shut, eyeball has been pushed down with the swelling/infection.
She's on antibiotics now(since Friday) and the vet said hopefully it will clear itslef up in a few weeks...

anything else I can do?

I tried a tea bag compress since they are thought to help with stys...

Pain meds so she doesn't scratch it and to help any swelling/inflammation. Eye ointment or drops to keep the eyeball moist if she's having issues with closing her eyelids fully. Did your vet warn you on what to do? If the cornea is scratched, sometimes the eye will heal, sometimes the eyeball has been punctured and will shrink, and die, and sometimes the eye will swell and have to be removed before it bursts. Can you take a pic so we know where you are in the scheme of things?

The vet said the eyeball itself is fine... thinks that an abscess developed underneath the lid, on top of it. Like the healing tissue kinda took over... because the original cut site is closed now. He didn't think eye drops would help.

I have been giving pain meds (infant advil) off and on, but really, she doesn't seem to be in pain. She grooms it a lot, but not really scratching it... she appears to be gentle with it.

I will look for a pic... I'm sure I've got one somewhere... otherwise, I will take one and try my best to upload, etc...

This was a couple days after...

Yes. Baytril twice a day.

I just tried rinsing it a bit with saline... she squeaked a little when I had to pull the lid open just a bit... poor thing... wish I could get in there and scrape the infection out!! Doc. says the Baytril will do that... not soon enough! :(

I got some ointment and put it on her earlier... we'll see if that makes any difference over the next couple of days. She's sleeping a lot... needs it to fight the infection. I miss her busy self at night.

On the plus side, I've been giving her lots of back rubs while she's in the cage, and she Loves them!! :D

I've used colloidal silver with good results; I have the 'Sovereign' silver 10 ppm. It doesn't sting and is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimicrobial, etc. You can Google colloidal silver for pets and read about it first, if you wish. It can be purchased for about $15 in any health food store. I use it for myself all the time. I've had eye styes and infections and it's better in a day or two with a few drops a day of it.

Hope she's feeling better soon. The baytril is still a good idea for a systematic antibiotic against infection and stress.

Thank you so much for this suggestion, Ratticus!
A couple days ago she gave me a scare... sooo much blood. As I was cleaning her up, I had hoped maybe this was a sign of it getting better, like maybe the abscess burst or something... well, it didn't appear any better or worse. Her eye doesn't seem to be getting any better. Been using the ointment for a couple days now...
I will go out and get some colloidal silver now... praying this helps.
