Okay...

....I recently adopted two lovely, amazing, female ratties. When I am on my period and I let the girls roam my room and bed, one of them will tug on my pad. THIS IS REALLY WEIRD, I KNOW. PLEASE NOTE THAT I WEAR MENS BOXER LIKE SHORTS AND UNDERWEAR UNDERNEATH. Has anyone experienced this?

I pull her away when she does it but she just runs back and tries to tug at it again. I usually leave the room or sit at the end of the bed at that point. I mean, I really hate tampons.

It smells interesting to them xP It's not that weird. Just try to wear pants when it's your time of the month around them to avoid them tugging on it.

Not only that... the very fact that they can tug and remove a tissue like thing, anything bandaids, pads, whatever it is, the rats want it.

Animals also have extremely sensitive olfactory abilities, and this would be developed in rats, especially due to a more limited eyesight. They are just reacting to a natural process. Funny little critters!

On the topic of dogs I knew a few dogs that would actively seek out used pads and tampons from the garbage and eat/tear them apart.

My rats haven't been interested in my "time of the month" because I use tampons, but they do lap up my blood when I get a cut. I've always wondered why exactly they do it.
