Emma's ears...ear mites??

Hello everyone,

My three years old girl Emma has one ear that is very red and sore and I have no idea what it is. I don't see her scratching the ear but there are little scabs and some crust that looks like dry skin. There is no smell coming from her ear. I examined her entire body and I found no scabs but in this one ear. I took pictures, although they are not very good because she doesn't like me touching her ear and she squirms too much. The pictures show the scabs but doesn't show the redness. Does anyone have any idea? I am bringing her to the vet next week. Thank you!

My dog had something similar but he had it in his armpits too... the vet said it was eczema. Not sure if theres anything like that for rats. I would of treated for ear mites first just to rule that out.

The scabs and redness go far into her ear; hence why I thought of ear mites. This morning there was dry blood. I'm not sure if I should put some vitamin E (as mentioned in Debbie Ducommun's book) the ear also has the appearance of being very dry.

I'd do a bug treatment just to make sure.
