I was checking over my rattie girl, Sandy's mammary tumor tonight. I noticed there is a scabby looking thing on it. I've been checking it every day and haven't noticed it before now. What should I do? Is it time for her to be PTS, or is this something that I can treat at home? I want to do my best to keep her going as long as she's comfortable. She still seems ok, and doesn't seem to be bothering her at this moment. Currently she is on doxy and baytril--I would hope this would keep it from getting infected. but it does drag on the ground..so will it just continue to get worse? Anyway..enough rambling..here's a pic:

I would assume this is where the tumour rubs on the ground as she walks around? I would try some veggie oil to moisturize it first.

I'm not 100% sure if that's where its dragging though..it could be..but it seems back a little further from where its dragging..could she be chewing it or scratching, maybe one of the other girls scratched it? boo...my poor old lady. Also, not sure if this is important..but shes been lightly nipping me latley...like it doesnt hurt at ALL, she just gently puts her teeth on me...she's never done this before..and just started in thel ast few days...just thought I;d throw that in there too.

shes been on the childrens ibprofun for about 4 days now...she still eats drinks, gives kisses, and takes treats like always..so..yeah. She still seems *happy*...although shes always been a bit of a grump anyway..she was never a huge *people* rat..since she was a baby..she always hated too much attention...she just wanted to do her own thing, very independant.
