So, I have this bottle of dry enzymes called "Nature's Miracle". It's good at absorbing odors from urine and is suppose to be safe for all animals litter boxes. I started putting in some in their litter and also a bit underneath their fleece bedding, since it eliminates the smell of urine and they basically pee anywhere. But this stuff also has some sawdust in it. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this sorta thing and if the sawdust might be not so good for rats? I'm not sure what kind of sawdust it is, it's very small, but it doesn't specify wood type (like pine, cedar, ect).

Any input would be nice, as I obviously didn't want to do anything to harm my boys, but I'm unsure if this stuff is causing issues or if it could be something else.

I worry because my oldest boy has started to have a bit of a rattle when he breathes and he hasn't really ever had it before. He's probably coming closer to 2 years old and I wasn't sure if it could be his age too. My second oldest rat has the respiratory thing and is on some meds to sorta regulate it (we're past Baytril now)- but the other one, doesn't have any breathing issues, only sneezes occasionally.

Also, I live in a dry climate and I have my boys in the basement where it is usually colder due to either weather or air conditioning. We keep the basement vents closed in the summer, but it still gets cold. I haven't tried a humidifier in the room as they're in the main part of the basement, so the room is rather large and one small humidifier might not help any if they need a little moisture- but I can live in the climate just fine (and I sneeze sometimes too xD).
I have a heating lamp just in case they get cold they can go to the warm spot all the same. I live with my parents (due to economic issues) and haven't been allowed to let the boys live upstairs in a warmer and lighter room. It's like they live in a cave really....

But yeah. Thanks for reading and any input you can offer.

I was worried about it. It does go to the bottom of the litter under the pellets, but I worried even them digging and kicking around in it might cause some issues. Thanks for the input, I'll stop using it!
