Does anyone know what happend . . .

i've had alot going on the last few days so i didn't really notice if any of my boys were acting odd until last night when i went to give everyone there dinner. when i went to open Crowley and Loki's cage normaly Loki's the 1st one there wanting his treat but he didnt even move to come see me i fed them and gave crowley his treat. at some point in the night i woke up to hearing Loki make these like clucking sounds so i got up to check on him and i noticed he was lieing flat on his belly breathing really hard i didn't know what to do so i just peted him and went back to bed . . . . well i woke up this morning to find my poor Loki dead and Crowley trying to bathe him i have no idea what happend how or why he died

 

Sounds like maybe he choked? or had resp troubles?

5 months maybe? he was still young not full grown I've only had him fro a few months

Awww, that does sound like a heart issue then, stroke or heart attack. When they are that young, its the first thing I think of. I AM sorry. :cuddle:

Sounds like a secondary respir. infection or possibly a heart problem causing breathing problems to me.

I'm so sorry :/ It's tough to lose them, especially so young. Can you still bring him to the vet for a necropsy, maybe? It would get you some answers on what happened so you can have some peace of mind

This sounds like how I found my G'Kar (who looked like your Loki) back in October. I rushed him to the vet asap and found out he had Chronic Heart Failure and was put on Lasix and Baytril that day. It was a scary 3 days until he started to pull out of it. He stayed with us for 6 months after that. Sorry to hear about your boy I was so happy to see Loki and Crowley on here, as they were my boys two original names. :hugs:

thanks everyone i've never lossed a rat before it's weird :/ crowleys taking it rough but im scared to get him a friend now even more scared that crowley could be sick too and i just dont have the time or the money to get him to the vet right now

Is Crowley showing any symptoms or acting a bit off? I mean before Loki passing... he may show signs of depression now that his cage mate is no longer with him.

No he's acting normal health wise hes just acting depressed makeing sounds lookin all over the cage not wanting to come up when i open the cage
