Brie just produced a pretty dark spot of urine on my arm (she marks a lot). I would first assume this to be dehydration but their water bottle is full and I see her drinking from it.

Also, her left eye (same side as the tumor) is slightly closed but not red or inflammed.

Is this all tied to the cancer? :(

My Prue pees dark too. I've had others do that and it was never health related or nothing that I could pinpoint.
I doubt her eye is related to the tumour as well.

Oh I'm glad, their urine is always rather dilute looking so I was alarmed by the change.

The eye is a strange case. I'm not sure what would cause a partially closed eye particularly when it's been like that for a few weeks now. : /

When rats get older they naturally go through a gradual kidney failure. They usually drink more to flush out the toxins that their kidneys used to. Their urine can be come darker and even a bit stronger smelling since its more concentrated.

That's a relief to know that some kidney problems are not unusual. Otherwise I'd be scared that was neurological, too, since the brain controls some of the hormone balance that affects the kidneys.

Yikes. : x Elphie (sister) still has pale urine so it's just Brie which worries me a little. She's Miss Grumpypants the past couple of days with the girls so I hope she's not in pain and it's just a girl thing. I'll keep a close eye on her.
