We have two 14 month old female rats, Peanut and Pecan.

Peanut occasionally makes these chirping type noises. This has been going on for as long as I can remember. She is healthy, happy, active, and energetic. She is eating and drinking well.

Any reason for concern?

As a general rule, rats don't make any noise at all. But I have had a couple who did do a chirping noise and they were not sick at the time. I never linked it to a possible illness. I can't remember exactly.
But I would watch closely in case it was something leading to an infection.

Thanks.

The sound isn't as high pitched as a chirp, but the best way I can describe it.

If I can figure out how to load a video, I will try to do that if I can catch her doing the sounds on camera.
