I have two, in particular, that I can recommend. I've used both for different reasons. Brighton Park is lower cost but they are also more experienced with dogs/cats. They do know about rats and will consult with other vets if they come across issues they can't solve. Animal House is Dr. Navarre and he is very experienced in caring for just about any exotic you could bring to him. He is higher priced, however, but knows his stuff as well. I recommend both and think both vets are good. If the issue is simple, I would go to Dr Perez. If the issue is complex, I would go to Navarre.

Brighton is where we take our babies and beside being friendly and knowledgeable (we see Dr Mehlin) the prices are right .. $29 for a visit ..

Would also like to add Dr. Anita Kuhnle at Arlington Heights Animal Hospital. She is their exotic/rodent vet and actually owns sugargliders as some of her own pets along with cats and dogs. She has been great to work with, returns calls promptly, and typically calls you personally post-surgery to discuss your pet. She has done 2 neuters for us, as well as treatments for assorted rattie issues.
